ADULT WE HAVE SURVIVED TEES
ADULT WE HAVE SURVIVED TEES
Release: This tee was released 21/02/2022 with Wunguras second wave of tees.
Description: The term "We have survived" is recognition that we as Gunditjmara or even as Aboriginal people as a whole are still here in existence today. On the back is a design representing the Eumeralla river a nod to the Eumeralla wars where one of the biggest violent encounters over the possession of land between British colonists and Gunditjmara people took place. The long out gunned conflict lasted from the mid 1830s up until the 1860s with the most intense period being between 1834 and 1844. Casualties from the conflict are estimated to be in the thousands with up to 6,500 Aboriginal deaths (based on an estimated pre-contact population of 7,000 declining to just 442), and an approximate 80 deaths of settlers.
Front: The We have survived print on the front featuring Kylan Johnson-Walker from a photo that was taken of him back in 2016.
Back: Eumeralla river design a nod to the Eumeralla wars with Wungura logo.
Design: Jason Walker
